Koh Samui Sailing

With more than eighty islands scattered over 50 miles of tropical ocean, plus stunning white-sand beaches fringed with coconut palms and lush vegetation, the Koh Samui archipelago is an attractive destination for both experienced and flotilla level sailing enthusiasts.

The island has it's own Tropical Island Regatta every July, which draws top class crews and vessels from around the region for a week of competitive sailing and hospitality. Top industry names like Neil Pryde and Ray Roberts are regular participants and the event also attracts a large number of spectators and international media attention, as it is also the final race in the Asian Yachting Series.

Day or overnight charters, bareboat or skippered private yachts are all available for those who like to spend time on the water as well as the beach on Samui. Luxury day sailing is one option with boats like the luxury Kia Ora Catamaran or Siam Lady cruiser offering day cruises around Samui and over to Koh Phangan, with all inclusive meal packages, as well as shorter sunset trips for the romantically minded.

Sunsail run flotilla trips to the Angthong National Marine Park and smaller companies like Samui Ocean Sports and Yacht Charter can arrange private charter sailing trips on their 33ft Catamaran, Dreamcatcher, which sleeps up to 5 on overnight trips and can accommodate 12 people for day sailing.

Smaller sailing craft such as Hobie Cats, Nacras and Lasers are also available for rent on an hourly basis, straight off the beach outside some of the major resorts in Chaweng. Unpredictable weather conditions means cancellations and course changes may occur, but for many people, Sailing off Samui remains the best way to enjoy the island to the full.
